Sometimes, it just takes a change in perspective by seeing the other side of the coin. I would say that loss and grief are overwhelming and difficult to deal with, however, its matter of choice of whether we want to celebrate them or just dwell on their absence and our loss.

Celebrating ones life means coming together and sharing those fond memories we had with our loved one. Everyone who she/he came across her/his entire life has a story. Sometimes its good and others not. It doesn’t matter anymore, all you want to remember is the best of this person since we are all flawed, aren’t we?

Keeping in mind that this is not about you helps a whole lot. It’s easy to get loss and how it affects you other than someone else. You want focus on that person and the thought that they are at peace. The suffering that was long overdue is gone.

Walking through their path, you see their actions and the character they portrayed as a result. Their generosity, selflessness, hard work, and forgiveness. How their spirituality made it possible to see beyond our flaws and love unconditionally. Everyone has one or more qualities that made them amazing.

This doesn’t make it hurt less, it just helps us focus on good things and do it with each other. Sadly, most families see each other during such occasions. This can be a good time for them to squash their issues and be together.
