We are Passersby

People play different roles in our lives and they are passengers passing through our lives just as we are passengers passing through earth. It’s fascinating how we learn and grow as we interact with people at different stages of our lives.

Some people bring us joy and laughter; others bring us sadness, challenges that test us in all manner of ways. In most cases we get both from the same people. We can choose to either learn from each and everyone of them or not. I hope you pick the former.

“Sometimes people come into your life for a moment, a day, or a lifetime. It matters not the time they spent with you but how they impacted your life in that time”

I have had a challenge letting people in and out of my life. It becomes such a task having to network, meet new people and establish a relationship and then trust.

However, I have come to learn that each relationship is meant to last for a certain duration and once it’s run it’s course, then it’s time to let it be and make room for new ones. It does more harm than good when we try to hold on to such. This might be far fetched; but it feels like having so much stuff in your closet that you never use or need anymore, and you don’t want to get rid of it to make room for new stuff.

On the plus, I have been lucky enough to have one of my oldest friends with me. We might not talk or see each other all the time, but when we do it’s magical. We catch up and remind ourselves how far we have come and how much we have grown.

I try to cherish the time I get to spend with my family and friends because I never know when it will run it’s course. Also, we never know whose life we’re going to impact through our presence and being who we are.

We feel so much joy when someone walks up to us and says that something we did really changed their life. So it also important to appreciate the people who help us learn-grow and let them know. It won’t cost a thing…
